As a market, we have made great strides over the last few years in online foreign exchange trading. Participants can trade more quickly and efficiently, and with greater price transparency than ever before. But as online FX trading volume continues to increase, it’s becoming apparent that the connectivity between all parts of a trade’s life cycle is not quite there. The systems responsible for RFQs, credit, execution, risk management, and back office processing are themselves maturing, but they don’t talk to each other the way we now need them to. In our private lives, we expect our banking transactions to flow instantly through the necessary systems, with real-time transparency online. Until now, we have not demanded the same capabilities from our FX trading.Why not?
