Schwabe, Ley & Greiner, a leading corporate treasury consulting company in Germany, does a regular survey of German corporate treasury management practices for the banking community. Georg Ehrhart, a partner of the firm, outlines some statistically representative trends in FX management they have identified.In Germany there are some 3,500 corporate entities with sales of between EUR 100 mio. and 10 billion. Excluding the very large “top 50” companies, which are not representative for the “Mittelstand” corporate treasurers are cautiously taking up new trends.Typical larger “Mittelstand” companies with sales of between EUR 100 Mio. and about 1 billion, employ mostly between two to four people in their treasury departments.
