Those familiar with the show will understand that to the British public, these words are representative of a quintessentially English scene, depicting rose gardens, china cups, tea, strawberries and cream. But more than that, these words evoke powerful emotions in its fan base. Feelings of national pride, nostalgia, celebration, excitement and togetherness. Its timely release as summer is drawing to a close and the impending autumn weather takes hold, is also a cue for darker nights and cosy nights in comforted by the symbolic warmth of tea and cake.
